Degree in Media Communication and Diploma in Direction of Photography at ECAM (School of Cinema of the Community of Madrid).
My first feature film, STOCKHOLM, a very little budget film, was nominated for the Best Cinematography at the 2013 CEC Awards (Spanish Film Writers Circle). The Hollywood Reporter made reference to my work in this film:
“Chat about life and love around the deserted, glistening late–night streets of Madrid, strikingly and memorably captured as a place of romance by the director of photography Alex de Pablo. De Pablo cleverly uses camera angles to generate a subtle sense of disturbance, with hand-held footage kept to a minimum as he seeks out the memorable image.”
— Jonathan Holland, Hollywood Reporter
My second feature film, also directed by Rodrigo Sorogoyen, MAY GOD FORGIVE US, won the best screenplay award at the 2016 San Sebastian International Film Festival.
THE REALM, my third feature film, was internationally premiered at TIFF (Toronto Film festival) and also participated at the Official Section of the SSIFF (San Sebastian Film Festival), it had 13 nominations to the Goya Awards, including Best Cinematography.
In 2017 he shot the short film MOTHER, awarded in 2018 with the Best Short Film Award at Goya Festival, also part of the Official Selection Short Cuts at the Toronto Film Festival, present at Austin Film Festival and finally nominated at the Oscars. Because of this work, I won the Best Cinematography Award at the Cinema Week in Medina del Campo and in the same way at the Orotava Short Film Festival. This short film becomes a multi-awarded feature film with the same name, MOTHER.
I have worked with Directors such as Rodrigo Sorogoyen, Nacho Vigalondo, Pedro Martín-Calero, Igor Fioravanti, Borja Soler, Santi Winer, Robert Bonomo, Daniel Remón, etc.
