Mika Altskan is a cinematographer based in New York, working in a broad range of film productions, including documentaries, narrative films, music videos, and commercials. His work has been featured and nominated in film festivals, SXSW, Big Sky Film Festival, Independent Spirit Awards, among others. His short film, “Daniel Arnold - Odds and Ends” was the winner of the Webby People’s Choice Award.
Mika grew up in a multicultural family sharing time between Washington, DC and Moscow, Russia. From a young age, he was fascinated with capturing images of the capital’s underground and skateboarding communities. He continued on to film studies, years of working in the G&E and camera department crews, and eventually, arrived in the role of a director of photography.
Mika is constantly evolving, always looking for new ideas, and always up for new challenges. He loves teamwork and meeting new people. Enthusiastic and industrious by character, he is committed to bringing his skills, knowledge, and intuition to deliver the most for every project.
