Maria Codina is a cinematographer born and based in Barcelona. In 2013 she completed a degree in Cinematography at ESCAC (Cinema and Audiovisual School of Catalonia, Barcelona).
Starting out in lighting crews she also shot several music videos and short films. In 2014 she had the opportunity to make her first documentary about the Basque Country conflict; an experience that deeply impressed on her the potential power of her work. In 2015 she went on to shoot her second documentary with the Catalan director Ventura Pons.
Maria loves cinematography as much as she loves to travel and observe light and nature from different places on Earth. Her mantra is that great cinematography can only be achieved by a combination of teamwork and keeping things simple.
