Rita was still in her teens when she first went to photography classes, where she spent hours in the darkroom developing her pictures and studying the works of the great photographers of the 20th century. At 17, she got the chance to be a camera trainee on a film, and it was at that moment she knew she wanted to be a director of photography.
She spent years studying cinematography and later worked and learned her trade in the camera department on numerous feature films and commercials. Her work and travel are her two great passions, and they have led her to jobs in more than 25 countries. As Director of Photography, Rita has shot feature films, TV series, documentaries, music videos, and numerous commercials, and has worked with directors such as Kike Maíllo, Gracia Querejeta, Jorge Dorado, Paula Ortiz, Eduardo Chapero-Jackson, Álvaro Pastor and Esteban Crespo.
Rita believes that observing life is a huge source of inspiration for a photographer, and having good ears, a good eye and a lot of tact are her major strengths as a Director of Photography. She sees the challenge and the process of finding a unique language for each project — a new level of meaning and emotion — through pictures, as one of the main attractions of her profession.
